"Póvoa, wonderful hometown... No one like you!"

Welcome to Póvoa de Varzim!
I will write a brief text to present the city where i was born. Póvoa is a small city that contrasts with the great urban centers, but it is not at all a dispassionate city, starting with its people. Here was born Eça de Queirós and other great personalities. There are many brave men of the sea who have left their mark. From the sea and the beach the city is sustained. In summer it attracts many tourists, and in the winter it happens the same, for the reason of the fish and the seafood that is always present at the table. It is precisely in the summer that there is more enthusiasm in my city.
The population doubles easily with the return of emigrants who come to see their loved ones, as well as vacationers, mainly people from Guimarães, Braga and Famalicão.
My city is much appreciated by the cities of the interior north, in such a way, that some owns their house or rent rooms to spend a week or two in July or August besides. The beach and gastronomy as I said, it is worth noting that it is quite easy to get to Póvoa from other northern cities. This contributes to the casino being highly sought after.
When you talk about Póvoa with someone who is not a resident it is most likely to hear the word "casino"; in the first thirty seconds of conversation, which is a bit reductive but on the other hand it is always good to see that our land is known and recognized for some reasons.
Concerning religion, the patron saint of Póvoa is Saint Peter and here is another great reference... Everybody knows this fact, since Póvoa has for many years guaranteed a huge party in the night from 28 June to 29. Kids and grownups on the streets, the party is for all ages and genders. Music, fires, sardines, wine and concerts are not lacking in a night that is usually very lively another prestigious event is "correntes d’escritas".
Póvoa hosts the event annually in honor of culture and literature. There are many national and foreign writers who are invited to talk about various issues in the current world and present their latest books.
